## Date Reflections
### Date 1 — December 2024
**Overall**: Went well. We had fun, laughed, and talked about both light and serious topics. Decided mutually not to continue — not enough in common.
**What went well**:
- Conversation flowed naturally
- Could discuss serious topics
- Anxiety disappeared once we actually met — everything felt normal from that point on
**What didn't work**:
- Limited common ground. Even shared interests (running) came from opposite motivations — she ran for family half-marathon tradition but doesn't actually enjoy it or being alone with her thoughts. For me it's the opposite.
- Little chemistry or spark
**Lessons learned**:
1. **Anxiety peaks before, not during** — the nervousness leading up to meeting her dissolved the moment we met. The anticipation is worse than the reality.
2. **Shared activities ≠ shared values** — surface-level common interests don't guarantee compatibility if the underlying motivations differ
3. **Chemistry needs active development** — can't rely on natural spark alone; something to work on
**Action items for next dates**:
- [ ] Prepare answers to predictable questions:
- "What are you looking for?" (in dating/relationship)
- Housing/living situation context
- [ ] Be more proactive with communication before and after dates
- [ ] Work on building chemistry/spark — don't just rely on conversation flow
---
### Upcoming: January 27, 2025
- [ ] Apply lessons from Date 1
- [ ] Have prepared answers ready
- [ ] Initiate more pre-date contact
