Ljubljana, Slovenia

June Climate:

  • Average high: 25.8°C (78°F), low: 14.4°C (58°F)
  • Can reach 30°C+ on hot days
  • Rainfall: 90-125mm across 10-15 days (highest of candidates)
  • Daylight: 15 hours 42 minutes
  • Sunshine: 8.5 hours daily

September Climate:

  • Average high: 21-22°C (70°F), low: 11-12°C (52°F)
  • Wettest month of the year: 147-155mm rainfall
  • Temperature drops noticeably as month progresses
  • Still pleasant for outdoor activities

Terrace Assessment: Ljubljana's riverside terraces are legendary. June can be properly hot (occasional 30°C days). September is pleasant but very wet - rain comes frequently though not typically all-day. The terrace culture is strong; heated terraces extend the season into cooler months.

Key Note: Ljubljana receives significantly more rain than Polish destinations in both June and September. However, rain tends to come as passing showers rather than all-day drizzle.

Gdańsk, Poland

June Climate:

  • Average high: 19.8°C (68°F), low: 10.1°C (50°F)
  • Can reach 28-29°C on warmest days (record: 34°C in June 2019)
  • Rainfall: 60mm across 9 days (driest of the group)
  • Daylight: 17 hours 5 minutes (longest due to northern latitude)
  • Sunshine: 11 hours daily (most of any candidate)

September Climate:

  • Average high: 17.8°C (64°F), low: 11.4°C (53°F)
  • Rainfall: 38mm across 15-16 days (driest September of all candidates)
  • Humidity: 75%
  • Baltic coast influence keeps temperatures more moderate

Terrace Assessment: Gdańsk is the coolest option temperature-wise. June is pleasant but not hot. September is comfortable during daytime but Baltic winds make evenings feel cooler than the thermometer suggests. The Long Market square and riverside offer sheltered terraces.

Key Note: Baltic location means more wind. Feels cooler than inland cities at same temperature. Best weather reliability of Polish cities for September (driest).

Porto, Portugal

June Climate:

  • Average high: 23-24°C (74°F), low: 14-15°C (58°F)
  • Rainfall: 40mm (very dry - summer dry season begins)
  • Daylight: 15.1 hours
  • Sunshine: 9.9 hours daily
  • Atlantic influence keeps temperatures moderate

September Climate:

  • Average high: 24°C (75°F), low: 14.7°C (58°F)
  • Slightly warmer than June on average
  • Rainfall: 39-72mm (transition to wet season begins late month)
  • Daylight: 12 hours

Terrace Assessment: Porto is the warmest and most reliable option for outdoor drinking. Both June and September are excellent. Even evenings rarely require more than a light layer. The wine bar and terrace culture is strong year-round. Late October remains viable here when other destinations are too cold.

Key Note: Best option for late-season trips (October/November). Atlantic breeze keeps summer heat manageable. Ocean water is cold (18-19°C) if anyone cares about beaches.

Tallinn, Estonia

June Climate:

  • Average high: 20°C (68°F), low: 9°C (48°F)
  • White nights: sun doesn't fully set (May 14 - July 29)

  • Sunshine: 10.1 hours daily
  • Rainfall: 55mm

September Climate:

  • Temperature drops rapidly through the month
  • More frequent rain showers
  • Autumn arrives quickly in the Baltics

Terrace Assessment: June is excellent - long white nights and mild temperatures. The Telliskivi Creative City quarter has excellent outdoor bar options. September is borderline; early September still works but late September is too cold for comfortable outdoor drinking. October is definitively inside.

Key Note: The white nights phenomenon in June creates uniquely long evenings - still light at midnight. However, autumn arrives fast; September is the practical end of outdoor terrace season.
